Italian Art

This weekend I saw a few amazing things!  This weekend was souly focused on art and most of the items I saw this weekend are pieces of art that I have been ready about and seeing in art books for years.  The emotion that I have for these pieces of art have really driven me in the past and now to become a better artist, fashion designer, and many other things!

Friday afternoon I went to see The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci.  It was nothing sort of amazing and life changing really!

The Last Supper measures 450 × 870 centimeters (15 feet × 29 ft) and covers the back wall of the dining hall at the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy.

The Last Supper portrays the reaction given by each apostle after Jesus said one of them would betray him. All twelve apostles have different reactions to the news, with various emotions of shock and anger.

In common with other depictions of The Last Supper from this period, Leonardo seats the diners on one side of the table, so that none of them have their backs to the viewer.

The painting contains several references to the number 3.  The number represents the Holy Trinity by the Christian belief.

The Apostles are seated in groupings of three, there are three windows behind Jesus, and the shape of Jesus' figure resembles a triangle. There may be other references that have since been lost as the painting deteriorated.

The last Supper is a great reference to the Golden Ratio!  This picture is just a quick reference to it!
